Overview
The Road Safety Task Force (RSTF) committee is charged by the Select Board to investigate vehicular and pedestrian safety issues on town roads. The committee makes recommendations to town officials for possible infrastructure improvements and operational components such as sidewalks, traffic signs/lights, speed zones, etc. that enhance the safety of motorists and pedestrians. The committee consists of 5 volunteer members and 2 staff liaisons (the Town Engineer and Police Department Safety Officer).
A major accomplishment by the committee was to develop a Sidewalk Master Plan. The plan identifies potential sidewalk locations and prioritizes the most critical locations for construction. The Sidewalk Master Plan (originally the Sidewalk Objectives Plan) was accepted by the Select Board in 2009. The Master Plan is updated every several years with new locations and to reflect sidewalks that have been constructed or resurfaced.
If someone needs to report an immediate traffic or safety issue, please contact the Department of Public Works or the Police Department. Please refer to the "Frequently Asked Questions" on this page for ways to report issues.
